Children and young people undergo developmental stages that can be difficult for both children and parents. In addition, it is particularly challenging to raise children today and to ensure their healthy psychological development and good education. This is primarily due to the following reasons:
- Današnja porodica ima sve više izazova da osigura djeci dobre ekonomske uvjete za razvoj.
- Today's family has more and more challenges to ensure that children have good economic conditions for development.
- Parents find it difficult to find the best balance between providing love and support and developing adequate parenting styles in line with the latest social trends.
- The environment in which children and young people live is very harsh, demanding, and full of challenges. This can lead to experimentation with alcohol, drugs, violent communication, etc.
- Mass media and, in particular, the Internet has a massive impact on young people’s attitude, their life values and goals.
- War trauma and loss still have a strong impact on individuals and society as a whole.
- Schools and other social institutions have difficulties in achieving educational goals.
This situation has resulted in many children having behavioral problems that are often caused by psychological and emotional problems. Disorders related to adapting to school conditions and obligations, as well as difficulties at school are often present and represent two thirds of total causes leading to the development of serious psychological problems in children and adolescents. On the other hand, problems at school can be related to certain emotional problems and the influence of family related issues.
Parents, as well as professionals working with children, often see the problems of children in their everyday lives, but struggle to understand them and effectively respond to the problem. It can be difficult to assess to what degree the problem is of a developmental nature and what is expected to self-resolve with maturation. Additionally may be difficult to assess to what extent they need advice and assistance from a psychologist.
Untimely problem recognition and inadequate response to a problem can significantly determine the future of a young person, which unfortunately sometimes ends with suicide, overdosing or some other form of extreme and radical behavior that endangers the life of a young person.
The psychological problem of parents and their children are intertwined. Sometimes parents do not recognize their own psychological problems and/or do not seek help for themselves until they notice that their child also has a problem.
Therefore, if you have identified problems with your children, if you want to talk to someone about a problem that is bothering you or you yourself have a psychological problem that you cannot handle, come and talk to our professionals.
